If any of you lacks wisdom [to guide him through a decision or circumstance], he is to ask of [our benevolent] God, who gives to everyone generously and without rebuke or blame, and it will be given to him. James 1:5 (AMP)
These are times when a lot of hearts are confused, stressed, stuck, fearful and clueless about what to do, and asking when some level of certainty will return. The strength of the strong are failing, the wisdom of the wise men is grossly insufficient, the wealth of nations cannot purchase the needed defence and indeed technological advances are being doubted.
It is normal for everyone in the world to feel this way and justifiably so, but unacceptable for a child of God to remain in that condition. These are dark times, and indeed a wonderful time for our light to shine. Of what use is light if it refuses to offer any help in the dark? (Matt.5:14) As a child of God, remember you are the light, and darkness has no power over you.
Our heavenly father has given us manifold provisions for such a time as this to ensure we indeed walk in the dimensions of light even in the darkest of times.
“I will not leave you as orphans [comfortless, bereaved, and helpless]; I will come [back] to you. John 14:18 AMP
What a better time to need a helper, a comforter, a guide, a strengthener. Think about it as a Child of God, if you don’t ask for the help of the Holy spirit, you are missing out big time. You will lose your privileges and be exposed just like every other person walking in the dark. The Holy Spirit is eager to help, to guide and direct, if only you will humbly ask and trust his instructions.
And just to assure us, James (1:5) reminded us that we when come asking – God gives to everyone that asks, no biases, no limitations, no favourites, he gives to everyone and that includes you. Not only that, He gives it generously, much more than you expect, imagine or think. Isn’t that enough reason to go asking? He even went further to say that God will deliberately not seek a reason to deny you when you come asking. That is so sweet to my heart. He will not resent you; He will not find reason to deny you wisdom; He will not rebuke you and HE WILL GIVE YOU. These are great anchor for our hearts for such a time as this. Our father wants to help us, and He just wants you to trust Him and ask in faith.
But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to tell you, for a doubtful mind will be as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind; and every decision you then make will be uncertain, as you turn first this way and then that. If you don’t ask with faith, don’t expect the Lord to give you any solid answer. James 1:6-8 (TLB)
Ask in faith. This is the disposition of the heart with which we should approach this generous God, in other for us to receive what He has in store. If God is just one of your alternatives, you will definitely not go with what He will say. Remember the things of God are foolishness to those whose hearts are worldly minded.
Beloved, God is more than able to help you. Be humble enough to ask the Almighty for help. Why waste time? Ask now … He is ever ready to help.
You are blessed.
