“I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:27
These times have been so challenging to all of us and many are disturbed and troubled about the situation of things and the uncertainty that this brings into our lives. Indeed, it is justifiable for anyone to so be at this time because the events have been so troubling. However, in the midst of all these, God has made provision for all of us to maintain, retain, and sustain our peace even in this period.
We must understand that the world is not designed to give us peace, things will always come up to unsettle us and cloud our heart with fear, doubt and stress.
I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
So clearly, we see that Peace is a gift given to us from God and not dependent on happenings around us. Many mistake peace to mean the absence of trouble, storms etc., but rather it is maintaining your focus on Christ even in the midst of unsettling circumstances. From John 16:33 it’s clear that peace is only in Christ and He has made it available to us as a gift. All we need to do, just like every gift, is to receive it and appropriate it.
God’s peace is not something you work for or beg for. It’s a gift you receive by faith.
As we go through these trying times, don’t let the flood of information take your focus away from God and His words because, the moment you do your peace and joy is gone. Remember, we are spiritual beings and as such we must learn to always draw from our spiritual strongholds in times like this.
Following after the Holy Spirit leads to life and peace, but following after the old nature leads to death. Rom. 8:6
It’s important to remember that when we let go of our peace in Christ, our ability to receive from God, to think and strategize becomes significantly limited and as such, we become more vulnerable and exposed to the devil and his tricks. Eventually, hopelessness steps in and the human survival nature kicks in to do anything without any restraint or give up completely.
Therefore, it’s important that we don’t trade our peace for anything that the enemy may be offering because of the temporal discomfort we are going through.
We are pressed on every side by troubles, but not crushed and broken. We are perplexed because we don’t know why things happen as they do, but we don’t give up and quit. We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going. These bodies of ours are constantly facing death just as Jesus did; so it is clear to all that it is only the living Christ within who keeps us safe. 2Cor.4:8-10
We know and believe that God’s kingdom will reign upon this nation, as everyone of us continue to live out the Peace of God in us and shine forth in our spheres of influence.
Beloved, in the midst of whatever crisis you may be going through, receive God’s gift of peace, keep feeding and declaring His words, focus on Jesus and remember that this time will pass, and the light will still shine again.
You are blessed.
