Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. Rom.5:5-6
God places on us the responsibility to love because He has endowed us with the grace by His Holy Spirit given to us. All we need to pay attention to then, is developing the capacity in such a way that everyone around us can have a taste of the love of God. God is love and everyone that walks with Him must express this love-grace as a proof of our personal relationship with God.
Dear friends, let us practice loving each other, for love comes from God and those who are loving and kind show that they are the children of God, and that they are getting to know him better. But if a person isn’t loving and kind, it shows that he doesn’t know God—for God is love. 1Jhn.4:7-8
To develop my capacity to love, I must sustain a continuous relationship with the Holy spirit as He bestows that grace daily. In practice, with respect to others I must pay attention to the grace of forgiveness and generosity, if I must be found walking in love.
In order to go far in my “love walk”, I must daily increase in the grace to forgive. Forgiveness grants me the rare privilege of walking in the paths of Jesus. Remember, He daily forgives us and does not keep a record of our sins. He expects us to do the same to everyone that comes our way.
The second practical grace to develop in my “love walk” is the habit and attitude of generosity. Love that does not involve giving is not complete and can’t make any impact.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Jhn.3:16
Dear children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions. Our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God. 1Jhn.3:18-19
The language of love is giving and God expects us to develop this capacity in our relationship with others in all that we do. Giving demonstrates the image of God at work in us and qualifies us for more of His blessings, because God can trust us with kingdom resources to reach out to others.
You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. James 4:3
“And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward.” Matt.10:42
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Phil.2:3-4
We are called to express God’s love in whatever situation we find ourselves and by so doing, the world will know that we are His disciples.
We have what it takes. Make the decision today to walk in love. Depend on the Holy Spirit to help and you can be sure of growing daily in this grace.
You are blessed.
