Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all. 2 Thess.3:16
One of the many titles of Jesus Christ is the PRINCE OF PEACE. This is quite re-assuring and an anchor for the soul in these times of so much trouble everywhere and every time. Not only is He the Prince of Peace but He has also provided a covenant of Peace for as many that will accept His lordship and worship Him.
For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed, but my kindness shall not depart from you, nor shall my covenant of peace be removed,” Says the LORD, who has mercy on you. Isa.54:10
My covenant was with him of life and peace; and I gave them to him for the fear wherewith he feared me, and was afraid before my name. Mal.2:5
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
Clearly, we see from these passages that God is committed to our Peace by making a Covenant provision for us. However, we need to understand that every Covenant places a demand on those who want to be partakers of the privileges of that Covenant. For us to walk in the covenant of Peace there are expectations and demands that we must be responsible for. Remember God is forever faithful to His part of the covenant.
For us to walk in God’s covenant of Peace, we must be Spiritually Minded.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Rom.8:6 KJV
So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. Rom.8:6 NLT
This scripture tells us that the secret to a lasting Peace is to have our mind governed, controlled, directed, ruled and driven by the Holy Spirit. Little wonder Jesus said in John 16:33 –
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Our Peace can only be found in Him, and for as long as we keep our mind on His words. The moment we begin to take directions from the news media, the events around us, the circumstances in our lives, the situations we found ourselves and the prevailing trend, our Peace will be lost.
Remember the story of Peter walking on water?
“Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” Matt.14:28-31
With your eyes on Jesus all the time, your covenant of Peace is activated.
You will keep in perfect peace all that trusts in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isa.26:3
You are blessed.
