You will arise and have mercy on Zion; for the time to favour her, yes, the set time, has come. Psa. 102:13

Favour is an act of kindness beyond what is due or usual. It is also used to describe an approval, support or likeness for someone or something.

A closer look at the scriptures clearly shows that God’s favour is available to everyone who has a covenant relationship with Him.

But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God. 1 Cor.2:9-10

The key reference in the passage shows passionate love for God as the key to entering divine favour. This is confirmed by the fact that it was His love for us that paved the way for our relationship with God and only by that love can we remain in His favour.

What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Rom.8:31-32

Clearly the favour of the Lord can only be obtained by being in Love with the King of Kings. Many serve him for what they can get, but very few serve Him in Love. Those who are after the gold, lose God, but those who crave for God with undying passion always get lavished with gold.

Joseph was a man favoured by the Lord, but the secret of that favour is in His story and expressed in the passage below:

No one is greater in this house than I am. My master has withheld nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How then could I do such a wicked thing and sin against God?” Gen. 39:9

We see in the passage a deep expression of His love for God. He would have been favoured by Potiphar’s wife and given whatever he would have requested conditionally. Remember, only the blessing of the Lord makes rich and adds no sorrow to it (Prov. 10:22).
Joseph, because of His love for God would rather be remanded in prison than secure the favour of man. Joseph spent at least two years in jail because he loved God. He was contented to be in God’s presence in the prison than to be in the palace of men.

At the fullness of time, God who is always faithful to His words returned to Joseph and launched him into favour.

“……. And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph’s hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck; And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt. And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.” Gen. 41:39-44

You become a candidate for God’s favour when you love Him above all else. Abraham, David, Solomon, Daniel, Paul, Peter, Jesus, etc. were all lovers and all walked in divine favour. No one that walks in Love will miss out of God’s favour.

Then Peter began to say unto him, lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel’s, But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life. Mark 10:28-30

Beloved, if you have responded in love to the finished work of Christ on Calvary, a life of Favour is yours!

You are blessed.
